Leicestr Monthly Photo Contest / Celebration / Thing

Hi photo fans!

I'm writing to let you know about a monthly photography contest / celebration / thing that we're trying out.

The Leicestr Flickr group is a friendly, casual bunch of Leicester based photographers, of varying levels of experience, that has put on a couple of exhibitions at the City Gallery over the past two years (www.leicestr.co.uk)

Rather than doing the same thing again, with the same people, we thought we'd like to try something new, and throw the doors open to anyone interested, no matter how tenuous their connection to Leicester or Leicestr (If you're reading this, that's good enough). Hopefully we'll all get to know some new shutterbugs, see some nice pictures, and be encouraged to get out there (or stay in here) and do more photography.

Organising the exhibitions could be a little arduous at times, so to make life easier we're going to make more use of Flickr, and have an online exhibition / competition, based on a different theme every month, and with the favourites from the month's entries being chosen by the current editor.

To enter all you have to do is to post your photo relating to the current theme into the Leicestr group.

The selected photos each month (the number of which will depend on the amount of entries and the curator's mood) will be displayed here on the competition blog, maybe in a Flickr gallery, and depending on how things go, perhaps in a real world exhibition too, if we end up with enough photos, and find a replacement for the City Gallery.

The details of the first theme are here, so put your thinking caps on, and get your lens caps off!
